COMMUNITY-MINDED

Volunteer PTO continues in 2024

We are very pleased to announce that North Shore Bank will be keeping the Volunteer PTO program in place, which was launched in 2023 for our 100th anniversary.

The process for requesting time off for volunteer PTO remains the same as last year (see Ask Seymour section UKG Dimensions Timekeeping for Employees > Submit a Time-Off Request for details).

For volunteer opportunity ideas, you can refer to Bucketlist for ideas. It’s a good idea to check there monthly to see what has been added for bank event needs as well as community volunteer opportunities.

More info below:

All regular full-time employees will be eligible for up to eight (8) hours and part-time employees will be eligible for up to four (4) hours of Volunteer PTO during a calendar year.

Requests to use this PTO must be made at least two weeks in advance (or as soon as practicable and with no less than 48 hours’ notice), and must be entered in the UKG timekeeping system for approval by your manager. Requests for time off under this policy are subject to scheduling availability, similar to the regular PTO policy. This PTO is to be used solely for the purpose of volunteering in a community service related activity* which must be approved by your manager. Volunteer PTO is intended for activities that occur during the employee’s normally scheduled work days.

Volunteer PTO hours may be taken in increments of one hour (for non-exempt employees only), or half-day (4 hour) increments (for exempt employees), up to a total of eight hours for one day. Volunteer PTO hours will be included as time worked for purposes of determining overtime, if applicable.

Volunteer PTO hours not used by the end of the calendar year will be lost; they cannot be carried over to the next year, and will not be paid out.

*Examples of community service related activities include, but may not be limited to: volunteering at a 501(c)3 or similar tax-exempt organization, school-related activities such as accompanying on field trips, neighborhood clean-up activities, Scouting events, etc.

Today we’re talking about how your daily habits can impact your wallet!

Over time, most of us have created a number of daily habits that impact our finances. Even the smallest choices have potential consequences on our ability to reach our life and financial goals. Whether it’s an impulsive decision to buy a new car instead of a used car or brown bagging lunch instead of going out, habits can either undermine our savings resolutions or support them. Over a lifetime, being aware of our habits and consciously deciding to align those habits with our goals can make a big difference. It’s worth finding the time to take this Elevate course where you will learn the following:

  • What Are You Spending Your Money On?
  • Understanding What to Buy and When to Buy It
  • Unnecessary and Impulsive Spending
  • Plan Your Spending

It’s a great time to deep dive into what you are spending your money on and understanding what to buy and when to get you on track for success. You’ll gain insight on unnecessary and impulsive spending and discover how to prepare a plan for spending that takes you where you want to be. Get started with taking a quick quiz to establish what you already know!

AROUND THE BANK

Bank employees show their Packer team spirit

On Friday Jan. 19th, employees were encouraged to wear their Packer gear to show team spirit for the second playoff game, Packers vs 49ers on Saturday Jan. 20th. We love seeing employees get into the spirit and show support for the Packers!

Unfortunately, the game outcome was not what we had hoped for. Here’s to an even better season next year!
